Coming in October and November: eleven top-flight dance productions and two operas at the Grand Théâtre as well as twelve orchestral concerts, five solo and chamber music recitals, and six evenings of jazz and world music stars at the Philharmonie. Dance – Les Ballets C de la B & Koen Augustijnen, the Russell Maliphant Company, the Akram Khan Company, a Rosas retrospective over several days with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, and some sensational discoveries: Ali and Hèdi Thabet (Tunisia), Dada Masilo (South Africa), and Kaori Ito (Japan). Opera – Massenet’s Cendrillon with the OPL (a co-production with the Opéra Comique Paris) and John Blow’s Venus and Adonis (a co- production with the Théâtre de Caen). Orchestra – Cecilia Bartoli, Martha Argerich, Nikolaj Znaider, Janine Jansen, and Maria João Pires, two evenings with the London Symphony Orchestra and Valery Gergiev, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra with rising star Robin Ticciati, Beethoven’s Missa solemnis with Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and Bach’s B minor Mass with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Pierre Cao, plus three OPL concerts with, among others, Kazushi Ono, Principal Conductor of the Opéra de Lyon. Chamber music and recitals – Hagen Quartett, Arcanto Quartett, Christianne Stotijn, Grigory Sokolov, and Thomas Zehetmair & Ruth Killius. Jazz and world music: Diana Krall, Sonny Rollins, Al Jarreau & Joe Sample, Nigel Kennedy, Madredeus, and Red Baraat.
